Title of album announced! Three years since "It's Christmas"

Hi everyone.  it's update time.

Recording of the album is almost complete.  I actually thought I had finished recording of the album about three weeks ago, and was ready to start mastering the album, getting the album cover, etc.  However, I think the album needs one more song for it to be fully complete, so this week I'll start on that.  Overall I am very pleased with how the album is sounding, especially the flow from one song to the next telling the story I want to tell.

Speaking of the story, the…

Happy Halloween! Album News

Happy Halloween everybody!  Time for an update.

As the album takes shape and evolves, the dramatic portion of the album is complete.  The songs I recorded to tell the story of a hero's journey is complete.  The story will be told across 8 tracks with varying moods depending on the part of the story.  I am very happy with how the songs came out, and I hope that I have conveyed the moods that I wanted to convey properly to you the listener when listening to the story.

Now, 8 songs is not nearly enough for…

Album Update

After a technical issue with my equipment, I am happy to report that the recording process for the new album is half completed.  The songs in the album have changed somewhat, thereby changing the story that I hope the album is portraying.  My goal is still to have this album portray a story that can vary from listener to listener, but still have the music convey a sense of the feelings felt at that part of any listener's story.

I have also decided to add more songs to the new release.  Before I started…

Meeting The Mentor (and other thoughts)

After some technical difficulties and glitches with my equipment, I am back working on the album.  The next chapter in our hero's journey is Meeting With The Mentor.

I feel that this is the most stereotypical part of any hero's quest.  Obi-Won Kenobi in /'Star Wars/', Proximo in "Gladiator", and the cop that helps John McClane in "Die Hard" come to my mind quickly.  However, the actual mentor can come in many forms.  The wise old man, the father figure, the best friend, and a teacher to name a few.

I've…

A Call To Adventure

Song #2 is just about completed, and its a part of our hero's journey I think all of us can relate to in life.

"A Call To Adventure" is upon our hero... the part of the story when everything changes.  Ordinary life has been shattered, and the first frantic scenes of escape and uncertainty happen.  This is clearly seen in basically any disaster movie ever created, whether it be the first quakes in "San Andreas" or the first small meteor hits in "Armageddon", or the first appearance of the alien crafts in…

It Begins

I write this first entry on the anniversary of D-Day... ironic that I am writing a piece called "Ordinary World" on a day that was one of the most un-ordinary in human history.

This project started about a week ago.  I came a cross a book written by Christopher Vogler caled "The Writer's Journey".  The book is a guide to screenwriters and authors describing the main structure of "a hero's journey".  He argues that in almost any hero's tale, whether it be in mythology, Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, or…

It's Finally Here!!!!! (11-8-16)

Finally!  A journey that began in the middle of January reaches this point!

The album is out, and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.  The inside photography was exactly what I was looking for (Thanks Liz, I Love You), the album cover was better than I could have ever expected (Thanks Rickson Rufaro), and the music turned out better than I ever thought it could be.  There is something on this album for almost anyone to enjoy.

When I started putting this together, I had a general idea where…

20 Days Till Release, Choosing Arrangements (10-19-16)

Only 20 days till the album releases, and 13 days till the iTunes pre-order!  The work is done, and now it's time to see how it goes.

I am sometimes asked how I decide the arrangements of songs.  Why do I make something a rock song?  Why do I make something a more classical piece?  To be perfectly honest, I don't think too much about how to arrange.  As I have said before, I have a general idea pretty quickly where I want a song to go.  It's getting to the end of the road that can be a challenge.  One…

NOVEMBER 8TH RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED!!! (9-20-16)

I can finally say it.  November 8th is the release date for "It's Christmas!"

The first shipment of CDs has arrived and I couldn't be happier with the finished product!  I have spent many hours on this project (just ask my wife... she has heard me talk about the project way too much for one person to handle).  Soon I will be sending them out to the proper places for sale, reviews, etc...

This has certainly been an interesting trip from the start.  I was finishing songs like crazy at the beginning, then…

Album Cover, Song Thoughts (9-9-16)

The album cover is finished, and I am incredibly happy with how it turned out.  The cover was done by a gentleman named Rickson Rufaro.  I found him on a website called fiverr.com.  I was impressed with his previous works and thought that he was the best man to design the cover.  After a short correspondence, he delivered!  I couldn't have ever dreamed that the release would look as good as he made it look!  He also made the back cover, which I may release later this month.  My wife Liz also did some…
